Bhagavat

A Sanskrit possesive formed from the root bhaj (“grant,” “bestow,” etc.) meaning “possessing fortune” and by extension “blessed,” “glorious,” “divine,” “lord,” etc. Note that the t being a voiceless consonant, changes to a sonant d before another sonant consonant according to the rules of combination (saṇdhi) in Sanskrit grammar, hence Bhagavad-Gītā (“Song of the Lord”).
