Wittgenstein, Emile Karl Ludwig Von Sayn

(1824-1878). A Russian prince who, according to Helena P. BLAVATSKY, received special protection from the MĀHATMAS in times of great danger (The Theosophist, March 1883, pp. 141-42). He held the rank of Lieutenant-General in the Russian army. Wittgenstein was a cousin to the Empress of Russia and a close friend of Blavatsky and her family. He joined the Theosophical Society (TS) shortly after its formation.
